The Chapel Designers group is another miracle in Holly’s life and one of her favorite “babies.” As Holly was one of the first in her field to utilize social media as a part of her marketing strategy, she had the opportunity to develop close relationships with floral designers worldwide. These designers began to regularly seek out her advice, guidance and moral support. Based on Holly’s ability to deal with a really big family, nurturing and supporting these designers was a natural love for her. It was very clear to Holly that a network of like-minded floral industry professionals needed to be started earning her the name “Flower Mamma.” With that, Holly created the first organization of its kind. An organization that not only educates, supports, and mentors creatives, but  encourages the individual designer to be his or her most authentic self.

To support these designers Holly hosts annual conferences and workshops in various markets or at her studio in Leesburg Virginia. The Chapel Designers gather to tour flower markets, have creative & business workshops, and most importantly to collaborate and share new inspiration with each other. Look for more exciting new conferences and workshops to be added as the Chapel Designer group expands. These relationships have become invaluable to each of the Chapel Designers as both strong industry relationships and close friendships have been born. Throughout the year the group stays connected through a forum that is built to support one another and the group has also committed to a new standard of excellence when it comes to expanding horizons, and setting industry standards in wedding and event design.

The History of the Chapel Designers

From Holly Heider Chapple, Founder:
“Via social media I have had the pleasure of developing relationships with floral designers all across the U. S. & Europe. In 2010 I asked via twitter “who wants to meet me in NYC?.” Much to my surprise 16 designers met me in NYC, for the first annual Chapel Designers event. All of a sudden I was planning a conference…

As our trip approached it became very clear that we needed a name for our group. Because we are floral and event designers that direct our talents toward the wedding market, I named the group the “Chapel Designers.”

After our first gathering in NYC it became abundantly clear that this group was going to thrive, gather, grow, and one day set the standard for wedding and event floral designers. We are currently approaching our 4th trip to NYC and we have added the California Chapel Designers Conference as welland over the last three years we have met with David Beahm, Ariella Chezar, Matthew Robbins, Flower School NY, Ed Libby, Karen Tran, Francoise Weeks, Abby Larson, Anne Chertoff, The Offices of Martha Stewart, Tara Guerard, Photographer Liz Banfield, Julie Sabatino, Ovando and we have had sponsorships or donations from Florabundance, Mayesh, Oasis, Wedding Chicks, Vase Source, and Flower Magazine.”

The Chapel Designers Mission

The Chapel Designers has grown into an international support system for floral designers servicing weddings and special events.  Our goal is to provide a supportive and nourishing environment that encourages and cultivates the unique and individual talents of the designers in this group. With more than 20 years in the floral and events industry Holly recognizes the unique challenges facing each designer individually and thus fosters an environment dedicated to cultivating success in each designer and encouraging members to maintain their own identities, design from their hearts, and learn to listen and trust their intuitive voices. Support of individuality sets this organization apart from other organizations who have required people design in a certain way, and as a result also serves as the catalyst for new trends and creative designs in the floral industry

How do I become a Chapel Designer?

Membership in the organization is dependent on your participation in 1 Chapel Designer designated event annually. Once you are a Chapel Designer you may remain a Chapel designer without attending an annual event for an annual membership fee of $300.00. If you do not renew your membership annually you will be required to attend a Chapel Designer event to rejoin the organization.

To be an official Chapel Designer one must have a floral design business license, a web presence, and be the principle of the floral design company. We do allow other industry designers, planners, freelancers or floral design employees to attend our annual conferences, but full membership benefits do not apply to these attendees.

The Chapel Designer group also has a list of obtainable goals created by Holly Chapple. These goals help to ensure that membership in this organization continues to promote professional growth and continued growth of this organization. From this list each designer must complete at least three of these goals per calendar year. Attendance at an official Chapel Designer conference or workshop waives the annual designer fee. For those who are already a Chapel Designer, but unable to attend an annual conference please contact Holly.

Due to our growth, we have many Chapel Designers within the same market. Our code of ethics dictates that we assist and encourage the growth of other designers including those within our own markets. Any designer who violates the trust of this organization will be asked to leave. We are good to each other.
